Genre:
The first movie I have chosen is X-men, This movie was created in 2014 and was produced by
Chris Claremont and John Byrne. This movie is about how the X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. It fits into the sub genres of mutation, time travel and i also think dystopia because Wolverine is sent back in time to change things to better the future so that clearly means that something went wrong in the world.
Key Conventions:
This movie is set in the present and the past. I know this because Wolverine gets sent back in
time while the x-men stay in the present days It deals with a dystopian future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history that anti-mutant hysteria. Alot of special effects are used in this movie to
create explosions and more.
Target Audience:
This movie appeals to both male and female but i think it appeals to females (65%) more than males (35%). I think this because the lead character (Wolverine) is the protagonist and there is alot of action. The age range for this movie is about 12-30, The modern technology appeals to the younger generation because it is more fascinating and vibrant.

Genre:
The second movie i have chosen is Alien, this movie was crated in 1979 and was directed by Ridley Scott. This movie fits into the sub genre; Space because it is based in space. In the year 2122, the commercial spacecraft Nostromo is on a return trip to Earth with a seven-member crew in stasis. Detecting a mysterious transmission, possibly a distress signal, from a nearby planetoid, the ship's computer, MOTHER, awakens the crew. Under prior orders from their employers, the Nostromo lands on the planetoid and Captain Dallas, Executive Officer Kane, and Navigator Lambert head out to investigate. They discover the signal is coming from a derelict alien spacecraft. Inside, they find the remains of a large creature whose rib cage appears to have exploded from the inside.
Key Conventions:
I can tell that this movie is set in space because there are things such as; Aliens, astronauts
and spaceships involved. I know this movie is based in the present because no-one gets
sent into the future or past. I guess i would say that there is good vs evil in this movie, but it
depends on how you interpret it. It could be that the alien just attacks the humans for no
reason or it could be that the humans were invading the aliens space and the alien felt like it
had to protect itself.
Target Audience:
This movie appeals to both male and female equally. I think this because the astronauts are both female and male. The age range for this movie is about 12-20, i think the movie is abit of a sci-fi horror so it would appeal more to a younger age group.

Genre:
The final movie i have decided to analyse is The Hunger Games. This movie was created in 2012 and was produced byNina Jacobson. The hunger games is set in the future when America no longer exists, there's a country called Panem. With 12 Districts and a Capitol, 24 kids (A boy and a girl from every district) are forced to go to The Hunger Games, a fight for survival. It fits into the sub genre of Dystopia, this is because it represents a world that has gone wrong.
Key Conventions:
This movie has been set in the future. This is shown through the way America no longer exists and instead of states, they have districts. We know that there is new technology in this movie because it is set in the future and they have things that have not been invented yet. I also know that they used alot of special effects in this movie. For example: They used sfx to make Katniss Everdeen's (Main character) dress flare up like flames or when there were monkeys and thousands of bees trying to attack the candidates while being in the dome fighting for survival.
Target Audience:
This movie appeals to both male and female but i think it appeals to females (60%) more than males (40%). I think this because the lead character (Katniss Everdeen) is the protagonist whereas usually there is a male protagonist. The age range for this movie is about 12-20, i think the movie is very intriguing so it would capture alot of peoples attention. Also, the modern technology appeals to the younger generation.
